World premiere: Double concerto „Romantic Offering” for piano, violoncello und orchestra

On 9 February 2011, the duo with Martha Argerich (piano) and Misha Maisky (violoncello) and the Lucerne Symphony Orchestra (conductor: Neeme Järvi) bring to the stage for the first time the Double Concerto for piano and violoncello by Rodion Shchedrin.

„The double concerto has a subheading “Romantic Offering”, which, I think, specifies the spiritual idea of the musical material of the score. I created and dedicated this work to the wonderful soloists Martha Argerich and Misha Maisky. I have tried to emphasize and to outline the most striking characteristics of both artists. The third and final part (Sostenuto assai) is a kind of Post Script, a musical review of the previous two dramatic parts.”

After another performance in Lucerne on 10th February, it is possible to experience this work by the same interpreters on 14th February in Turin, on 19th February in Baden-Baden and on 20th February in Paris.
