The Oper Not Love Alone wins the Golden Sofit in the Season 2013 - 2014

The Oper „Not Love Alone“ by the composer Rodion Shchedrin in the new version by the peoples’ artist of Russia Juriy Alexandrow on the Stage of the Theatre „St. Petersburg Opera“ was awarded with the prize the Golden Sofit as the best oper performance of the season 2013 – 2014. The awarding ceremony took place in the Youth Theatre named after Alexander Bryantsev in St.Petersburg on the 10th of November 2014.

This choice was a great surprise to many theatre goers. For the 20th ceremony of the Golden Sofit were nominated two further great operas: “Les Troyens” by Hektor Berlioz and the opera “The Left Hander” by Rodion Shchedrin that was shortly performed in the Barbican Hall in London. Rodion Shchedrin wrote the oper Left Hander to the jubilee of Valery Gergiev in May 2013 and the opening of the new stage of Mariinsky Theatre. The oper Left Hander still could win two Golden Sofits for the decorations and the costumes on this evening.
