The Chairman of the Federal Council of the Russian Federation Valentina Matvienko presented the award “The Tree of Life” during the St.Petersburg Eurasia Women forum.
The award “The Tree of Life” is presented to outstanding artists, scientists, culture people, politicians, teachers and to clerical professionals who take a leading role in culture and public activities upon reaching 75 years.
"The awardee of this year is a composer, people’s artist of URSSR Rodion Shchedrin. The whole world knows you as a great Russian composer, pianist and teacher. I am sure that this award will only confirm your achievements through the world community and an acknowledgement for your talent." - so Matvienko
