Valery Gergiev and Symphonic Orchestra of Mariinsky Theatre present a Concert Im Memoriam Maya Plisetskaya

On 18 November 2015 at 2 p.m. in Tchaikovsky Grand Concert Hall in Moscow the Symphonic Orchestra of Mariinsky Theatre with the Conductor Valery Gergiev present the audience a breathtaking concert In Memoriam Maya Plisetskaya. The Audience will see a recording of the ballet “Bolero” in the choreography of Maurice Bejar with the music of Maurice Ravel. Maya Plisetskaya danced this ballet for the first time 1975 in Paris. The concert will as well present the work of Gustav Mahler and Rodion Shchedrin.

Maya Plisetskaya was a close friend of Valery Gergiev and Mariinsky Theatre. Together with her husband Rodion Shchedrin she attended the performances and festivals of Mariinsky Theatre in St. Petersburg and Moscow. She was as well at the Festival dedicated to Mstislav Rostropovich in Samara and in many cities during the Moscow Easter Festival. She was nearly a constant guest during the performances of Mariinsky Theatre throughout the world.

The video recording of the ballet Bolero under the support of the Orchestra took place on the 23rd of July during the Verbier Festival in the Swiss alps. The second performance took place on the 4th of September in Wladiwostok.  Some memorial concerts will take place in St. Petersburg in the nearest future.
