On the 20th of November the Odessa National Theatre presented the audience a concert dedicated to the 90th jubilee of Maya Plisetskaya. The Concert began showing videos of interviews and performances of Maya Plisetskaya from many years of her work in different theatres and countries. After the show the artists of the ballet entered the stage and payed homage to the genius of Maya Plisetskaya - one of the greatest ballerinas of the 20th century.
The conductor and music director Boris Bloch represented the audience the most well-known pieces from the repertoire of the great ballerina. The first act began with extracts from the ballet Don Quixote in the original Choreography of Marius Petipa with Olena Kondratieva in the leading role. Afterwards came the most well-known piece that Plisetskaya danced throughout her career - The Dying swan to the music of Camile Saint-Saens in the choreography of Michail Fokine.This important part of the evening was presented by the prima Anastasiya Warankina. Her performance was noted by standing ovations.
The Ballet Aisedora in the choreography of Maurice Bejart was the next ballet to be presented. The dance to the music of F. Listz, F. Chopin and J. Brahms was made for Maya Plisetskaya. Her role took over another prima of the theatre - Olena Kamenskikh-Baranovska. The final of the first act showed the guests of the evening the second act from the famous ballet of P. Tchaikovsky - The Swan Lake with Ellina Pokhodnikh in the role of Odetta - Odilia and Dmitro Sharai as Siegfired.
The second act showed the ballet Carmen Suite written by Rodion Shchedrin for Maya Plisetskaya in 1968. The choreography by the Cuban choreographer Alberto Alonso and staging by Vladimir Messerer brought the audience to the standing ovations again and again. This wonderful event was a big present to the audience in Odessa and one of the best performances commemorated to Maya Plisetskaya.
